Beginning in October of the year preceding desired enrollment, prospective applicants should obtain the social work application materials by calling the MSW Program Office, or by clicking these links to download the College of Social Work application.   In addition you must also make application to The Ohio State University Graduate School.   All Graduate School applications must be completed on-line. To complete your graduate school application you must click this link the Graduate School.

Applicants applying to the advanced standing alternative plan (ASAP) must submit additional materials such as letters from field instructors, employment supervisors, advisers, etc., as evidence of administrative experience and, similarly, evidence of direct practice (clinical) experience to support their application.  Such experience gained in undergraduate field practice or paid employment should be fully described in the applicant's autobiographical statement.

Applications are reviewed as soon as they are complete.   Early application is strongly recommended.   Applicants should submit all required materials as soon as possible, and no later than April 1 to ensure consideration for the regular MSW Program.   All programs are subject to early closure.  All ASAP application materials must be on file with the MSW Program Office as soon as possible but no later than March 1. An earlier closing date may be necessary if the class fills before the deadline.  Early application is strongly recommended for this highly competitive program.

The college will process applications for admission as they are received and will notify applicants of admission decisions as early as January.  Applicants admitted into the program will be required to submit a one hundred dollar ($100.00) tuition deposit in order to secure their admission.  Details will be included in the acceptance letter.  Processing will continue until a sufficient number of students has been admitted to fill the class.

Applications will be considered complete when the following materials have been received at the offices indicated:

Ohio State Admissions Office: Graduate application form; sn official transcript from all previous colleges and universities attended; scores from the GRE aptitude test (if required), and TOEFL scores (if required).

MSW Program Office: Social work application; autobiography as indicated in the social work application materials; three letters of recommendation from academic or employment references; and an official transcript from all previous colleges and universities attended.

Prospective transfer students from other accredited institutions may apply for admission and transfer of credits.  Application materials and transfer information may be obtained through the MSW Program Office, or download from this web site.  Evaluation of equivalency of hours and course content will be made on an individual basis.

Any prospective student wishing additional information or special assistance regarding admission or requirements may contact the MSW Program Office.
