APPLICATION TO THE SOCIAL WORK MAJOR
Criteria
Our application process is designed to allow students to outline their motivation to enter the social work profession and increase the likelihood of a good match between the student applicant and the major. In order to apply to the Social Work major, you must meet the following criteria:
Instructions
If you are a current Ohio State student on any OSU campus, you need to submit your application to the social work major using CARMEN. To apply to the social work major, click below on the "application instructions for Ohio State Students" to view the instructions to begin this process.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR OHIO STATE STUDENTS
If you are a future transfer student from another University or College intending to major in social work, you must complete the application process to The Ohio State University as well as to the College of Social Work.
To apply to Ohio State, go to www.osu.edu and complete the on-line application found on the "Future Students" tab. To apply to the social work major, click below on the "College of Social Work Major Application" to download and complete the application. In addition, click "Personal Statement" to view the instructions and questions. Email your completed application, written personal statement, and unofficial transcript to Andréa Severson at severson.10@osu.edu. Application materials (application, statement, transcript) must be sent together in order to be considered for review. You will receive a confirmation email, once your materials have been received.

Deadline to apply to the Social Work Major
Columbus Campus: Accepting applications, as space permits.
Lima, Marion, Mansfield, and Newark Campus: Accepting applications, as space permits.
Applications will be reviewed after the posted deadlines. You will be notified of your admission status via e-mail as soon as a decision has been made. Applications received beyond the deadline will be considered if space permits.
Students may only submit one application for consideration. If a student is denied admission to the social work major on any campus, a student is not eligible to re-apply to the social work major until the following year.
