College Receives Community Partner Award from Mental Health America of Franklin County

Home > News > Article

The College of Social Work has received the Community Partner Award from Mental Health America of Franklin County (MHAFC) for their partnership in developing Hilltop Partners in Integrated Care. Dr. Tamara S. Davis and Dr. Joe Guada are the co-principal investigators on this project. This new extension of the MHAFC Pro Bono Counseling Program is part of OSU’s efforts with Ohio MEDTAPP (Medicaid Technical Assistance and Policy Program).

The college is part of a new state initiative designed to improve delivery of a variety of health-related services to Ohioans of all ages enrolled in the Medicaid program. The statewide program, MEDTAPP Healthcare Access Initiative, is aimed at training more than 1,000 students, residents, fellows and practitioners, with Ohio State’s project alone seeking to train more than 500 students. Ohio State’s interdisciplinary team involved in the program represents the colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Social Work.

MHAFC is dedicated to promoting mental health, preventing mental disorders and raising awareness and understanding of mental health issues through advocacy, education and support services in the community.
